Tuesday, March 8: CHAPTER 10
CLASSWORK:
Today, class started with a discussion about public policy and lobbying. We discussed the roles of lobbyists, and how pressure groups and individuals can influence government decisions.
Next we discussed the idea of civil disobedience, using Rosa Parks, Gandhi, Martin Luther King Jr & the protest at Tiananmen Square as examples of practitioners of civil disobedience.
We then watched a video of the Tiananmen Square protest, and discussed how civil disobedience can get results, as well as the risks and sacrifices that must be understood before engaging in this course of action.
Next we wrote Chapter 10 Homework Quizzes C & D (which we later marked). We then clarified the answers to the remainder of Chapter 10 Questions # 27-44.
HOMEWORK:
No formal homework assigned today; however, students are reminded that they have their Chapter 10 Test tomorrow (Wed, March 9).
