Monday, February 29: CHAPTER 10
CLASSWORK:
Today, Mr. Clark started class by reminding students that their political parties assignments are due this Friday, March 4.
He then reminded students that as per the school policy for missing work, any students who are missing assignments as of tomorrow (March 1) will be expected in homework club every day it is offered until they are completely caught up.
Next we did a brief overview lesson on how citizens can influence government decisions. Topics such as elections, public opinion polls, pressure groups, lobbyists, and civil disobedience were covered.
We then read the textbook, P. 249-251 (Introduction, Choosing the Government, Elections and Election Campaigns).
Next, we looked at the overhead titled, "Sample Ballot Marks" and learned how ballots must be properly marked to be counted.
We then looked at the overhead titled, "Setting up the Polling Station", so that students could get an idea of what a polling station looks like when one enters to vote.
HOMEWORK:
No homework will be due tomorrow; however, students are reminded that their Political Parties Assignments are due on Friday, March 4 at the beginning of class.
