CLASSWORK:
The purpose of today's class was to introduce Ideologies, and to have students recognize that these are basically groupings of people who share similar values and beliefs.
- First Mr. Clark collected the "Website Navigation Homework Quizzes from the students
- The lesson started with an exercise intended to help students learn to formulate opinions based on facts and their own value sets. We did this using a continuum exercise on whether marijuana should be legal. As benefits and drawbacks of this idea were introduced and discussed, students were encouraged to adjust their thoughts based on their new knowledge of the topic.
- Mr Clark then used the overhead (handed out to students) titled, "Political Spectrum" to show the 5 Ideologies we need to know, and where they fit on the spectrum.
- The class then completed the questionnaire on the handout titled, "Political Spectrum - Where do you Fit?"
HOMEWORK:
- Students were asked to read the following handouts for class tomorrow:
- "Three Ideological Perspectives"
- "Selected Political Systems"
